Can SSD last 100 years?

Posted on

Hard drive storage is essential for any computer. It has to store the information that you need to use and manipulate your computer. While there are many types of hard drives, they are divided into two categories based on how they read and write data.

The first one is the spinning hard disk drive, and the other one is called the solid state drive. Most laptops are powered by a spinning hard disk drive. There is no moving part involved in a spinning hard disk drive, which makes it faster and much more reliable than the solid-state drive.

The solid-state drive does not have a mechanical Hdd destroyer component and it uses flash memory to store information. Flash memory stores information non-volatilely and is fast. SSDs come in a wide variety of form factors, including 2.0, 1.0, M.22 and M.25. The 2.0 form factor is the most common, and most of the desktop SSDs used today are 2.0 form factor.

It has been estimated that most SSDs will last between 3 and 5 years. It is the solid-state drives that are replacing the traditional hard drives in new computers.

Solid state drives are becoming popular because they consume less energy than their predecessors. This means that they can be powered by a standard power supply rather than requiring an external power source.
