Why did you start writing?
I started writing because I love words and I love to share my thoughts and feelings. I also enjoy making things, so combining the two felt natural to me.
Writing has been a constant in my life since I was a young girl. My mom is a writer, and she always encouraged me to express myself through words. So when I started college, I decided to major in English Literature.
During my time at university, I realized that writing wasn’t just for academics. It was something that could be used for communication purposes as well. Writing became an outlet for me during tough times and it’s something that I continue to use today.
Nowadays, writing is pretty much all I do. I spend hours every day sitting down at my computer keyboard or pen in hand, trying to come up with new ideas or stories. It’s become such an integral part of who I am that it feels impossible to imagine life without it.
What inspires you?
My work as a professional writer and printmaker is inspired by the natural world. I love to explore the landscape both in my immediate vicinity and further afield, seeking out extraordinary places that inspire me with their beauty or starkness. From here, I draw inspiration for my writing, often exploring themes of nature, wilderness, and conservation. I also find great inspiration in the art of printmaking, particularly ancient woodblock prints and modern screenprints. Each technique has its own unique set of challenges and rewards that can be explored in new ways to create fresh pieces of artwork.
